I started in medical billing and coding, joined one of the most innovative medical consulting firms in the industry, and ran their claims department. The job kept pulling me deeper into the technical side — repricing software, patient care tracking systems, chronic disease management platforms. So I made it official: I transitioned into IT at the same firm and went on to earn my IT degree without ever leaving the medical world.
That path means I’ve read the billing rules and written the software that enforced them. I’ve sat in the claims department and built the repricing engine that processed those same claims before they reached the TPAs. Most people who understand billing don’t understand the tech. Most people who understand the tech have never touched a claim. I did both, at the same firm, for the same patients.
